From Struggle to Safety
When Chelsea, a gentle five-year-old Labrador retriever mix, arrived at the Ottawa Humane Society, she wasn’t alone. Curled tightly beside her were ten tiny puppies — just days old, eyes barely open.
Homeless, scared, and exhausted, Chelsea had been trying to protect and care for her newborns with no safe place to rest, no food, and no one to help her. That all changed the moment she came through our doors.
Chelsea and her pups were welcomed with warmth, compassion, and expert care. They received the urgent medical attention they needed, and today, this little family is thriving.
Chelsea now rests in a cozy, quiet space with nourishing meals and gentle support, free to focus on what matters most — her growing puppies.

When Luna arrived at the Ottawa Humane Society, she was just two years old — scared, in pain, and in the middle of labour. She had nowhere else to go. But thanks to your support, she didn’t have to face it alone.
Our compassionate veterinary team welcomed her with gentle hands and calm voices, staying by her side through every moment. With their care, Luna delivered one healthy, beautiful kitten — a small miracle that marked the start of a brighter chapter for them both.
